Reflection Questions
Why do you want to serve in the position for which you are caucused? Why are you qualified to do so? What will you uniquely bring to the Regional Board?
I want to serve as Regional Morah on the 2021-22 Manhattan Regional Board because I have served on chapter board as Morah for the past two years and have truly loved the work I have done with recruitment and membership. I am qualified to serve in this position due to my past experience and familiarity with the role of a Morah, my passion and involvement in BBYO, and my organization skills- which will be an asset to keeping track of members, prospects, and events. As a member of the Regional Board, I plan to bring unique methods for recruitment, dedication to my role through my strong work ethic, and a passion for teamwork and collaboration with others.
Select one of the Menorah Pledge Principles and explain how you apply this principle in your day-to-day life. How does this principle influence your leadership style?
The principle I have selected is Good Sisterhood. This principle appears in my day-to-day life not only through my role as an older sister but also as a member of my school’s soccer team and cheer club. All of these tasks in my life allow me to exhibit the principle of good sisterhood by allowing me to become a leader, show respect for everyone, and most importantly be kind and a friend to each and every person in my life. This principle impacts my leadership style in a few ways; firstly it is an extremely important concept that I apply to working collaboratively and respectfully with others. Additionally, good sisterhood enables me to be an effective and compassionate leader and role model for others through respectful, fun, and democratic leadership.
We do not know when the Covid-19 pandemic will end. It may remain unsafe to gather as we did, pre-pandemic, into the 2021-22 school year. Given these obstacles, how will you help grow membership in BBYO Manhattan? How will you bring inactive members back into MHR?
The obstacle of Covid-19 restrictions has been a pressing issue in MHR, especially pertaining to membership, and I plan to combat it in a few ways. Initially I would have each chapter establish a friendship or constant contact with any inactive member or prospect possible. Next, I would work alongside the Mazkirim to ensure that emails to parents are engaging and promote BBYO for the amazing community that it is, as well as grow our platform on social media and get the best of event promotion on chapter and regional instagrams. Lastly, I would work with the S’ganit to create successful and engaging programs to give prospects and unengaged members the most of their BBYO experience.
