Reflection Questions

Reflection Questions

Why do you want to serve in the position for which you are caucused? Why are you qualified to do so? What will you uniquely bring to the Regional Board?

I want to be Mazkirah/Gizborit because it is the position most aligned with my capabilities and how I enjoy contributing. As Mazkirah/Gizborit, I would dedicate myself to leading GivingBBYODay, designing merchandise, fundraising, maintaining the website and social media accounts, and organizing financials (along with any other responsibilities) to ensure that our region is set up for success. I have worked on four steering committees, the L’dor Vador chapter constitution committee, served as L’dor Vador’s membership and retention chair, and been attending programs since 2017. This summer, I will be attending ILSI to enhance my leadership skills. I am ready to do whatever is necessary to help make Manhattan Region even more amazing, and believe I can best do that by being Mazkirah/Gizborit. I am also outgoing, inclusive, and very organized, as well as available, creative, and most importantly, passionate about being Manhattan Region’s Mazkirah/Gizborit.

Select one of the Menorah Pledge Principles and explain how you apply this principle in your day-to-day life. How does this principle influence your leadership style?

I apply the principles of Good Sistership in all aspects of my BBG life. I am active in my chapter, where I support and respect each BBG as an equal and a friend. The sisterhood in BBYO is perhaps its most precious quality; it is why I got involved in BBYO in the first place. Now, I want to help provide that kind of warm environment for future BBYO. BBYO sisterhood has been there for me and I will be there for others. Good Sisterhood influences my leadership style because my number one priority in BBYO is seeking to enhance the relationships and meaningful friendships we make with each other. That all comes through active sisterhood, by being kind to everyone, and by providing a welcoming, egalitarian environment. Good Sisterhood informs the kind of regional board member I hope to be: one
who is joyful, respectful, and welcoming to all.

Giving BBYO Day is a critical fundraiser for the Region. Without the grassroots donations we receive on this day, we could not provide scholarships, hold Conventions, have Kickoffs, or do any of the other cool things we do in BBYO. Explain how you would create, organize, and market a #GivingBBYODay experience that raises $30,000 on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 (a $10,000 increase from 2020).

The more ambassadors we have, the more chances we have to raise funds. GivingBBYODay and its kickoff program must be included in email blasts and other communications for many weeks leading up to Giving Tuesday. Every member should be contacted personally, urging them to come to Manhattan’s program and to become an ambassador. The program will teach members what GivingBBYODay is and its importance, how to become an ambassador, and how to motivate potential donors. To encourage ambassadors, the program will include recognition for past high-achieving ambassadors and an announcement that 2021’s top ambassadors will receive special rewards, such as Instagram takeovers or gift cards. It might also include a fun motivational speaker, to get ambassadors charged up to go raise funds. With a mix of ample communication and a fun, engaging program, members will be sure to care enough about GivingBBYODay to raise a lot of money.
