Reflection Questions
Why do you want to serve in the position for which you are caucused? Why are you qualified to do so? What will you uniquely bring to the Regional Board?
I want to be Regional N’siah because I have gained so much from my years as chapter N’siah and want to continue that experience at a higher level. Having served as the Chaverut BBYO N’siah since its founding in 2019, I am uniquely positioned to be Regional N’siah because by Regional Elections I will have been N’siah for over 2 years. These years leading a chapter from the ground up have taught me about leadership, cultivating a Jewish identity, and supporting those around you. Alongside all Chaverut has given me, there is also all I have given Chaverut-as the leader of my board, I oversaw everything, from our kickoff in April 2019 to our temporary chartering in December 2020. My years of experience as chapter N’siah have given me the passion to run for Regional Board and the qualities to be a successful N’siah once I’m there.
Select one of the Menorah Pledge Principles and explain how you apply this principle in your day-to-day life. How does this principle influence your leadership style?
I believe that the Menorah Pledge Principle that influences both my daily life and my leadership style the most is Jewish Heritage. To me, being a Jew is not simply a matter of religious ritual, but is also the responsibility to adhere to a strong set of core values and morals. My passion for helping others, which affects my enthusiasm about community service and my eagerness to assist my board members, comes from the emphasis placed on tikkun olam. I strive to lead by example while also supporting those around me because of the bravery and compassion shown by leaders in the Torah, such as Moses and Esther. I care about enriching the lives of the Jewish people around me with tradition and culture because of the biblical instructions to continue the practice of our ancestors. My Jewish heritage is what makes me a kind, strong person and leader.
How will you help build a hard-working, supportive, and fun team consisting of the AZA Regional Board, the BBG Regional Board, and the Regional Staff? How will you help get these different groups to share goals and pull in the same direction all year long?
One of my goals as Regional N’siah will be to create mutual respect and relationships between Regional Leadership-in order for the AZA Regional Board, the BBG Regional Board, and the Regional Staff to not only get along but want to create amazing experiences for our region, they must have a genuine care for each other. I will cultivate these relationships through bonding games and intimate meals, because I believe that if everyone involved has good relationships with one another, they will be determined to work together, achieve each other’s goals, and rely on each other, including myself, for support. In order for the Board to be united, I will have all board members present their position-specific goals at the beginning of each month and see where certain positions can compromise and collaborate to create the best regional experiences. This will prevent feelings of being ignored while also keeping things cohesive.
