Reflection Questions
Why do you want to serve in the position for which you are caucused? Why are you qualified to do so? What will you uniquely bring to the Regional Board?
I want to serve as Regional Mazkirah/Gizborit to increase member engagement during and between programs. I have attended CLTC and Anita Pelman leadership academy. Both helped teach me to use my leadership to better our region. I have used our region’s social media and designed merch for Fall and International Convention. As MazGiz, I want to give general members leadership opportunities outside of board positions. I can incorporate general members in instagram takeovers and work with other members to design merch. Although I haven’t served on Chapter Board, I managed to find many ways to involve myself in our region, meaning I have a unique perspective, valuable for Regional board. I want to make it easier for all members to get involved, whether on board or not. I want to share my position with our entire region, which I strongly believe is the way to increase engagement and participation.
Select one of the Menorah Pledge Principles and explain how you apply this principle in your day-to-day life. How does this principle influence your leadership style?
One Menorah Pledge Principle I apply in my day-to-day life is “Good Sisterhood.” I strengthen the bonds I have with my friends and peers inside and out of BBYO daily. I continue to form new connections in my chapter and region, to create bonds for life, and to help my peers with their needs. I use what BBYO has taught me about leadership to help myself and others. “Good Sisterhood” is what drives me to want to lead our region and serve for our members. I approach leadership with friendship and sisterhood as my priorities. I do not want to be intimidating nor unapproachable; I want to be someone members come to for help or advice, related to BBYO or not. As MazGiz, I will exemplify good sisterhood by being a friendly face for our region and help our members take on important roles.
Giving BBYO Day is a critical fundraiser for the Region. Without the grassroots donations we receive on this day, we could not provide scholarships, hold Conventions, have Kickoffs, or do any of the other cool things we do in BBYO. Explain how you would create, organize, and market a #GivingBBYODay experience that raises $30,000 on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 (a $10,000 increase from 2020).
For #GivingBBYODay, I will incorporate my role as Mazkirah by using social media to advertise for weeks leading up to the event. As Regional Gizborit, I will get in touch with individual members to encourage donations and help with any confusion on setting up their fundraising accounts or other complications. I will create a competition as an incentive for people to fundraise. For example, winning a prize for the most donators, or the largest amount of money raised. I can also ease the process for members by providing suggested messages to send. This combined with the incentive will allow ambassadors to contact more people in less time, and will increase the donations received. I will plan and host an event (ideally in person) on #GivingBBYODay where our region can send their messages together to create a collaborative experience where everyone can be encouraged by eachother.
