Reflection Questions
Why do you want to serve in the position for which you are caucused? Why are you qualified to do so? What will you uniquely bring to the Regional Board?
I feel my skills are particularly well-suited to the position of Regional Morah because of my experience and qualifications. I have personally recruited over 20 of my friends to become members of MHR during my time as 8th grade membership chair. While being chapter Shlicha, I learned how to create engaging Jewish programs to keep members active and involved. I was recruited to serve in the CLTC hype squad, so I understand the foundation of how to reach out to prospects for special events- just as Regional Morah does to get prospects to join BBYO. Additionally, this allowed me to gain the knowledge of recruiting online, which is an important skill regarding our present conditions. I’m excited about this position, as it would allow me to aid in creating the strong, life-long BBYO friendships that make this organization meaningful.
Select one of the Menorah Pledge Principles and explain how you apply this principle in your day-to-day life. How does this principle influence your leadership style?
I apply good sisterhood in my everyday life by building and strengthening new and old friendships. From instagram messaging an old friend who I havent spoken to in a while, to private chatting with my friends in my classes on zoom, I apply good sisterhood by making sure to reach out to others during this time where many may feel isolated. Good sisterhood influences my leadership style by placing a big emphasis on friendship, democracy, and teamwork. I strongly believe that there is no I in team, and no I in chapter. Good Sisterhood encourages me as a leader to make sure all of my peers' voices are heard and respected, so we can work together towards one common goal.
We do not know when the Covid-19 pandemic will end. It may remain unsafe to gather as we did, pre-pandemic, into the 2021-22 school year. Given these obstacles, how will you help grow membership in BBYO Manhattan? How will you bring inactive members back into MHR?
To grow membership in MHR, I will create chapter recruitment competitions, awarding amazing prizes to the chapter who recruits the most members in an allotted time frame. This will motivate members to reach out to friends and prospects to join their chapters, growing membership, while also having members active and excited to gain a reward. Additionally, I will use zoom to my advantage by hosting special celebrity guest speaker events available only to members, to get prospects excited about joining. To ensure upper class inactive members want to return and stay active, I will build special moments to honor them, just as we would with newer members. By providing exclusive upperclassmen opportunities that may include zoom dinners, swag, appreciation nights, and more, we can ensure that all of our MHR members are enjoying AZA and BBG every year of their BBYO experience.
